Conan et le démon vert

>La jungle, habituellement bruyante de bourdonnements d'innombrables insectes et animaux petits et gros, était étrangement silencieuse. On n'entendait que les craquements des branches provoqués par un homme qui courait essoufflé.

Les branches qui giflaient son visage et son corps semblaient lui faire aucun mal. De temps en temps, il s'arrêtait pour reprendre son souffle dans la chaleur étouffante de la végétation. Il se retournait avec les yeux fous de terreur, psalmodiant "Oh Mitra, sauve-moi !". Soudain, un hurlement de terreur retentit à travers l'épaisse couverture de feuilles entrelacées qui empêchait les rayons brûlants du soleil de pénétrer.

Et puis, le bourdonnement des insectes et les cris des animaux se firent entendre de nouveau, comme si rien ne s'était passé, et la vie dans l'immense jungle reprit son cours normal.

The jungle, usually noisy with the buzzing of countless insects and small and large animals, was eerily silent. Only the cracking of branches made by a man running out of breath could be heard. The branches that slapped his face and body seemed to cause him no harm. From time to time, he stopped to catch his breath in the stifling heat of the vegetation. He turned around with eyes wild with terror, murmuring "Oh Mitra, save me!". Suddenly, a scream of terror echoed through the thick interlaced leaf cover that prevented the scorching rays of the sun from penetrating. And then, the buzzing of insects and the cries of animals were heard again, as if nothing had happened, and life resumed its normal course.
